Overview

Why did you want to lose weight?

Before I changed my eating habits and my life, I never paid attention to what, when or how much I was eating. Of course, I knew that I weighed more than I should, but I convinced myself that I was comfortable in my own body.

"Believe in yourself and believe that you will reach your goal no matter what!"

Then, I saw a documentary about the consequences of being extremely overweight. After that, I immediately bought a new scale. When I saw that I weighed 357 lb, it was clear to me that I needed to change something! This number was simply inconceivable to me and I just couldn't continue living the way I was.

What did you want to accomplish on your journey?

The first goal I set myself was to get under 220 lb.

For the second step, I wanted to reach 176 lb. In addition, I wanted to get fitter and not feel out of breath after just a few steps or stairs.

My wife and I also wanted to have children and, with such a heavy weight, it's much more difficult to get pregnant than at a normal weight.

How did you reach your goals?

I completely changed my diet. I started eating fresh fruit and vegetables as well as completely avoiding foods with a lot of sugar or fat. I eat an almost exclusively pescatarian diet and drink mostly water. For exercise, I started by taking walks. Once I had lost the first few pounds, I got into Nordic walking. Ever since I got down to 200 lb, I've been jogging several times a week.

Christoph’s Tips

Never give up
Don't let other people talk you into things or influence you
Above all, believe in yourself

To help support skin regression, I do strength training with dumbbells or at the gym. You could definitely say that I am/was very disciplined. I never had a cheat day, completely avoided sweets and never went over my calorie limit by more than 100 calories. And even then, it was only on a few occasions.

How did YAZIO help you?

YAZIO showed me quickly and easily how many calories my food had and helped me to keep everything under control each day. Plus, I could plan my days really well. It made it easier to reach my daily goal.

Over time, YAZIO has taught me how to better recognize the nutrient values of different foods and whether they are good or bad for me. I really liked YAZIO's user-friendliness. With the scan function, I could quickly check foods in the grocery store and determine whether they fit into my calorie budget or if I should avoid them.

Did you have setbacks?

Actually, I'd have to say that, luckily, I didn't experience any setbacks. I continuously lost weight. Sure, some weeks it may have just been a small amount, but it was a steady decrease in weight.

When I was really having a bad day, I was happy to motivate myself with old pictures or to show myself that I was finally fitting into t-shirts that didn't have 3 Xs before the L.

What advice do you have for other users?

In my opinion, the most important thing is to keep going and never give up. Everyone has to find what works best for them. It doesn't matter if others reach their goals faster or lose more weight than you do. Don't let other people convince you that you're doing something wrong.

Do exercises that best suit you and eat the foods that feel the best for you, not what have helped others. Believe in yourself and believe that you will reach your goal no matter what! And when you have a bad day, don't let it get you down! The next day will be better!

What are your future goals?

Now that I've reached my goal weight, the hardest part begins: Maintaining the weight. In addition, I would like to build some muscle. For exercise, I've set myself the goal of competing in 2 races per year.

Why do you want to tell your story?

It really helped me to see the success of others, especially at the beginning of my weight-loss journey. It showed me that others, who were struggling like I was, could do it and, therefore, so could I. For that reason, I would like to use my story to help others and motivate them to keep at it and never give up!
