Overview

Why did you want to lose weight?

Before I lost the weight, my life consisted of ready-made meals, lots of greasy foods and no exercise. Honestly, I was lazy and just accepted that. When my weight kept increasing and I could no longer look at myself in the mirror, I had to change something. Unfortunately, until that point, all of my diet attempts had failed and I always slipped back into old habits.

"I wanted to be able to look in the mirror and finally feel comfortable with my own body again."

Mental health problems, which led to me losing around 10 lb, was one of the triggers for my weight loss. But for me, that was a starting signal that I would have to change my diet on my own and with a lot of motivation. I started paying more attention to my diet, eating less chocolate and greasy foods, and also cooking fresh meals.

What did you want to accomplish on your journey?

When clothes shopping, I didn't want to be frustrated anymore that I couldn't fit into clothes that I really liked. I also set the goal of getting into shape and having fun with nutrition and exercise. I wanted to be able to look in the mirror and finally feel comfortable with my own body again.

How did you reach your goals?

A fundamental change in my diet was the main way I reached my goal. That meant fewer sweets, more fruits and vegetables, cooking with fresh ingredients, not eating anymore when I felt full, and not constantly eating fast food.

How did YAZIO help you?

YAZIO helped give me a better understanding of different foods and their nutritional values. I've been tracking my meals with YAZIO for more than a year and it helps me to stay in control and within my macros. It also gives me a good overview of what I've eaten throughout the day.

Since it's possible to save meals, I save a lot of time when logging foods. YAZIO has pretty much all food items and it's super easy to add them. I had already tried out plenty of apps, but I'm definitely the happiest with this one.

Did you have setbacks?

I also had setbacks. I didn't do any exercise for more than 6 months and gained back about 10 lb. However, since I already knew how to lose the weight again and I didn't feel as comfortable with it anymore, I just started working out again.

Luckily, it wasn't difficult for me. I had fun with it and, when you see the first results, you don't want to give up or fall back into old habits. I think everyone hits a low point, but maybe we need this to find our way back. Since then, it's worked out well!

What advice do you have for other users?

Never give up! Even when things seem hopeless and you're not seeing any progress, it will get better. You have to keep reminding yourself why you started. Nothing happens overnight and you have to have a lot of patience. But, if you keep at it, don't stress yourself and have fun with it, you will always reach your goal! For me, it helps to take pictures regularly and compare them to old ones.

This is where you often see the most change, not from the number on the scale. Don't pay too much attention to the scale, look at your reflection instead!

What are your future goals?

My biggest goal for the future, now that I've lost about 45 lb, is to build muscle, and tighten and tone my body. That means soon it'll be a calorie increase instead of a deficit.

Why do you want to tell your story?

I want to help others with my story and show them that anyone can do it! It doesn't have to be overnight, that also doesn't work. I also needed 3 years.

I want to motivate others because I enjoy helping other people, and seeing and celebrating their accomplishments.
