Overview

Why did you want to lose weight?

It's not like I suddenly got rounder and round. Instead, I was eating the pounds without noticing. Good cheese, a glass of wine and delicious bread with some sweet fruit. It can't be that unhealthy...or so I thought! I banished the scale into exile for years and any picture that showed something I didn't want to see was simply dismissed as unflattering. Clothing sizes were always smaller than they said...a trick from the manufacturers.

"I think you should never stop enjoying life. Peace of mind and consistency were my magic words throughout my journey."

No, I didn't see myself as I really was and neither did my family. Life is wonderful, not everyone can have a model's body and, after all, you're not 20 anymore. Sure, blood pressure, joints..but I blamed that on age and heredity, too. At the beginning of 2018, I had to have an examination that required anesthesia and had to give my weight. After seeing the number, I almost passed out without needing the anesthesia. I couldn't sugarcoat it and there was no excuse. One finding (gastrointestinal) made a change in diet necessary and I decided that I had to, I wanted to, change my diet and my weight.

What did you want to accomplish on your journey?

I never wanted to see that number on the scale again. I promised myself and my body that I would start looking after us, doing good and, my body didn't let me down. It followed the same path.

How did you reach your goals?

I read about YAZIO and downloaded the app. I realized that fat wasn't my problem. Instead, I was consuming too much sugar, empty calories and not enough protein. I learned how important it is to drink enough. Soon enough, I came across intermittent fasting and combined it with YAZIO.

Now, I avoid cafeteria food and ready-made products. I cook almost exclusively from scratch.Instead of eating bread rolls with cold cuts, cheese and marmelade for breakfast, I eat porridge with fruit or yogurt and veggie sticks. For lunch, I eat a lot of vegetables, raw or grilled, white meat or fish. Although, I don't forbid myself from eating anything, even things like noodles, my favorite cheese, dinner at a fancy restaurant or a party. Wine, cakes, ice cream or chocolate also aren't deadly sins.

YAZIO was also there and told me when it fit into my plan. And sometimes it didn't and I simply ignored the reminders to look into the app. After all, I'm in charge. I think you should never stop enjoying life. Peace of mind and consistency were my magic words throughout my journey.

How did YAZIO help you?

The past year has been a wonderful time for me. I love my new, light way of eating and my look. I've found two new freinds: YAZIO and intermittent fasting. They will keep guiding me. Just as good friends do, they praised and motivated me, but also pushed me when I needed it and supported me with tips and recipes.

In the groups, I met great people, weight-loss partners and made friends. My life has become more active. I walk at least 10,000 steps, walk the dog at least 2 hours a day, ride my bike and swim.

Did you have setbacks?

No, I can't name any. There were times when I lost weight quicker and times when it was slower. There were plateaus when nothing happened. After vacation, there was a dumb plus on the scale, but I never let it get me down. They say "Good things come to those who wait," and I never counted on reaching a particular weight in a particular amount of time. I was on the right track. The scale, mirror, loved ones and my health proved me right and my problem children (stomach and gut) now live in peaceful coexistence with me.

What advice do you have for other users?

Anyone can do it! I'm in the midst of dreaded menopause and, nevertheless, it is still possible to find the way back to yourself. Today is the day! Not tomorrow, not the day after tomorrow. I didn't do any diet, I kept my promise to myself and gave myself the necessary attention and time I needed.

What are your future goals?

Now that, after about a year, I've reached my goal weight, I don't track my food every single day, but I do keep an eye on my calorie deficit more often. Did I reach my goal? Yes and no! Yes because I feel great, I'm healthier and fitter than I was in the past few years, but no because I'm going to keep going so that I never lose sight of who I am again.

Why do you want to tell your story?

I've decided to tell my story because I'm proud of myself, of us—my body and myself! Also because, when I first got started, when I was looking for my healthier self, I was soaking up these types of stories and I gathered enough courage to believe that I could do it, too. And because I think that YAZIO is great. To that point: THANK YOU, YAZIO!
