Why did you want to lose weight?
I woke up and stepped on the scale one morning and was completely shocked to see that I had gained 40 lb within a year. At that moment, it was clear that I needed to change my diet and my lifestyle in general. I wanted a better quality of life, to start each day healthier, to be able to concentrate better and have more stamina for my daily activities.
What goals did you want to reach?
In general, I wanted to get back into shape. I didn't set any particular goal so that I wouldn't put too much pressure on myself. For me, it was important to work out more and integrate a healthy diet into my daily life.

I think if you set goals that are too strict, it can be too much pressure and can hinder your abilitiy to reach the goals you set out to accomplish. I think an app like YAZIO can help you get off to a good start and help you see your eating habits documented and displayed plain and simple. A lot of times, you lose an overview of what you've consumed throughout the entire day.
How did you reach your goals?
For me, patience and trust in myself were most important. I worked with a calorie defecit. That means I always consumed fewer calories than I was allowed to eat during the day. It was definitely important for me to integrate a lot more fruits and vegetables into my diet. To get a get overview of my calories, I downloaded YAZIO. With the app, I had a consistent overview of my nutrients and total calories.
In addition to changes in my diet, I also started to make small changes to my everyday life. Nowadays, I take the stairs instead of the elevator, avoid sweetened beverages and make sure to drink plenty of water. In the beginning, I integrated 2 to 3 workout days into my weekly plan. Now, I go every day and wouldn't want to miss it.
I don't have any set cheat days. A few days a month I will have something sweet or something with more carbs and other months I won't have any cheat days. I just listen to my body, which I'm able to do quite well now.

Did you have setbacks?
I wouldn't call them setbacks. When I had the feeling that I hadn't eaten well on one day, I tried to calm myself and those negative thoughts and just continued where I left off.
What tips do you have for other users?
It doesn't matter how often you fall back into old habits, you should never give up. You just have to keep going where you left off. A setback isn't the end, it's just a small obstacle along the way.
What are your future goals?
I would like to tone my body a bit more through continued strength training and continue to maintain the same healthy diet.
