Why did you want to lose weight?
The trigger was that I slowly started to realize when shopping, for example, that I couldn't fit into any jeans anymore. I was often breaking down crying in the dressing room because of it. After such experiences, I would usually go home and comfort-eat. Unfortunately, it kept getting worse and worse. I compared myself with friends and admired how they looked, especially their bodies. I always felt like the "fat one".
"The sky's the limit!"
I felt so uncomfortable next to my best friends. I didn't want to go out in general and I shut myself away. I knew that wasn't a life for me. When my family approached me about it and said I should start looking after myself, my world fell apart. I just wanted to disappear.
What did you want to accomplish on your journey?
I just wanted to live again and feel good in my own skin, to go out, have fun and, of course, there was the health aspect. Shortness of breath and immobility were becoming all too common.
How did you reach your goals?
At the very beginning, I was on a low-carb diet and lost 10 pounds in the first week. That really motivated me. Shortly after that, I signed up for the gym and did 15 minutes of cardio to warm up, 40 minutes of circuit training and then 1 hour of cardio daily. I had one cheat day per week and enjoyed the occasional pizza or hamburger with fries.
How did YAZIO help you?
By regularly tracking my foods, YAZIO helped me develop a better understanding of nutrition. Only then did I realize why I was able to gain weight so quickly. I decided to use YAZIO because I didn't want to have to give up on things, like going out, eating delicious food or enjoying nachos at the movie theater.
As soon as I knew I would be going out for dinner in the evening, for example, I ate only the minimum and, even after the trip to the restaurant, would still be in a calorie deficit. I didn't ever want to lose the quality of life by having to give up delicious food.
Did you have setbacks?
There will always be setbacks, no matter what you do. I also had days and weeks when all I did was eat and I gained weight again. The most important thing is that, despite everything, you don't give up, you pull yourself together, get back up and keep going. I gained 15 pounds in two weeks from comfort eating. It was devastating at first, but I never gave up and always believed in myself, pulled myself together and kept moving forward.
What advice do you have for other users?
Please keep in mind that weight loss isn't constant. There are various factors that affect your weight from day to day, like water retention, your period or even stress.
Your weight will always fluctuate, but you have to see the big picture. Set small goals. This will make it easier for you and help you stay motivated. Please believe in yourself! You can do so much more than you think.
What are your future goals?
I would like to get down to 155 pounds and, since my skin's elasticity just isn't the same as it used to be, I'd like to start strength training. I want to tighten my skin as much as possible and I'll give myself about 1 year for it.
Why do you want to tell your story?
I want to show other users that anything is possible. I want to set an example because I know there are so many people that feel exactly the way I did.
With my experience, I want to show that you can really accomplish everything you set out to do. The most important thing is to believe in what you're doing!
