Why did you want to lose weight?

In recent years, I've gained almost 45 pounds. I couldn't fit into any pants anymore and I was getting more and more frustrated. When I woke up one morning, I suddenly had stretch marks on my stomach that I definitely never noticed before. At that moment, it was clear to me that something had to change. I had never tried to lose weight or tried out any kind of crash diets. YAZIO was my first attempt.

What did you want to accomplish on your journey?

My dream was always to reach a BMI within the "normal weight" range. Getting into better shape wasn't really a top priority, but was, of course, a nice side effect.

One of my goals was definitely to feel better about myself and fit into my old clothes again, or even a size smaller. In the past, friends and acquaintances would often comment on how much weight I had gained. That really bothered me. I wanted to show everyone that I could lose weight. Although, I quickly realized I wasn't doing it for others, rather for me and my new attitude toward life.

How did you reach your goals?

I lost the first 22 pounds with YAZIO alone. Now, I've added jogging, hiking, bike riding, inline skating and fitness apps to my routine. I don't go to the gym and I rarely have cheat days. I'm very disciplined and felt like they were ruining everything. I usually had cheat meals for things like family get-togethers or barbecues with friends. On these days, I got more exercise in and was able to track my activities in the app.

To be honest, when I first started my weight-loss journey, barely anybody took me seriously. That made it difficult to stay strong in everyday situations. These days, my friends and families have gotten used to it and it's no longer an issue.
The scanner in the app is quick to use and I usually plan my meals a day in advance. That means I have a great overview of my calories and know how much I can treat myself to and what doesn't fit into my plan anymore.

My daily diet consisted mostly of soda, chocolate and ready-made foods. I was never aware of what I was doing to my body and how my terrible diet was affecting my daily routine. I felt sluggish a lot of the time and had no motivation for different activities and exercise.
Through YAZIO, I learned what is good for my body and how much fun it is to cook delicious recipes. The structure and setup of the app have really helped me eat regularly. Compared to the past, this led to fewer cravings.

Did you have setbacks?

As far as I can remember, I didn't really have any setbacks. My favorite time of year, for example, is the Christmas season and I always knew that I wouldn't be able to remain steadfast and within my calorie goal. I was completely aware of that and didn't let it stress me out at all. At this time, I gained back 4 pounds. However, I quickly got back into my old routine and, thanks to YAZIO, was able to lose the 4 pounds very quickly.

What advice do you have for other users?

I always find it hard to give other people advice because I think that everyone has to find their own way. What I can say is that it's important to keep your eye on the prize, regardless of what others think, say or try to convince you of. No food in the world can replace that new attitude towards life you get through the changes you make.
As soon as you decide to lose weight, you need a lot of patience. I also had to learn that my body wasn't a machine and that things like water retention, hormones, and gut contents can cause weight fluctuations. Don't let that get you down, continue pursuing your goal. My last tip: Don't be too strict with yourself. Despite everything, you should enjoy your life, especially food.

What are your future goals?

Now, I will continue to try to maintain my weight, and tone and tighten my body. Right now my body fat percentage is approximately 27%. I would be happy to get this down between 22–25%.

Why do you want to tell your story?

I want to share my success story with others because I know what it's like to feel uncomfortable in your own skin, but to be stuck in your ways and not have any motivation to change.
Two of my friends have also discovered the app and already seen first results. If I can motivate others with my story, then I'm happy.
