What do you find most difficult about reaching your goal?

Giving up my favorite food

Incorporating exercise into my daily routine

Feeling like I can't indulge anymore

Staying motivated when progress slows

Keeping an eye on my calories and nutrients

Why did you want to lose weight?

I've been overweight my entire life. After I finished my studies and signed my employment contract in 2017, I realized I had accomplished a lot in my life, but being overweight had always stayed with me. I decided I didn't want that to be the case anymore.

"Decisions you make today shape who you are in 3 months."

I looked for a suitable calorie tracking app that could help me to consciously and healthily lose weight. I finally came across YAZIO and my transformation began.

What did you want to accomplish on your journey?

My goal was to finally feel completely comfortable in my own skin; to look in the mirror and be proud that I'm healthy and active. I didn't want to fear for my health anymore and wanted to be able to take part in activities without my weight limiting me. More than anything, I wanted to be one with my body and do everything possible to avoid conflict with it.

How did you reach your goals?

First, I made sure I understood what a healthy, balanced diet even was and how I could use the proper ingredients and recipes to implement it. With support from YAZIO, I learnt to track calories properly for the first time and had an overview of how many calories I was eating each day.

Saskia’s Tips

Find your why! Why do want to change something? And what do you want?
Be aware of the habits you find difficult to break (e.g. snacking in front of the TV, eating at work while stressed, etc.).
Live without restrictions. Learn to eat in moderation instead of without limit.
Believe in yourself and believe you can do it.
To burn enough calories, 10,000 steps a day and 1 hour of exercise 3 to 5 times per week should become a part of your routine.

This was the first time I really realized how many calories certain products and foods actually contain. So I didn't have to restrict anything anymore. I just had to make sure to calculate it into my daily calories. I could eat what I wanted to without going overboard.
I also adjusted my daily routine to include more exercise and even found athletic activities that I enjoyed. I finally understood that I had to change my lifestyle. From now on, I would turn my life around!

How did YAZIO help you?

YAZIO has helped me acquire a completely new awareness and understanding for quantities and food. Now I know what I can eat in moderation and how much. The recipes in the PRO version are also really helpful and have shown me that healthy food doesn't have to be boring and bland. The green check mark always motivated me to keep going and not give up because it showed me time and time again that I had successfully mastered my day!

Did you have setbacks?

There were certainly a few setbacks along the way, like plateaus with my weight, binging or lacking motivation. However, every setback reinforced the idea that everything gets better!

What advice do you have for other users?

My advice for everyone: Don't get discouraged when things aren't going your way. It's completely normal and part of the process. You can't focus all your energy on the number on the scale. It's better to give yourself time and not to put any pressure on yourself! Unfortunately, there's no miracle cure for losing weight quicker. All you need is to take an honest look at yourself and a strong will to want to change something.

What are your future goals?

My new lifestyle has also brought new goals with it. These days, I coach other people on their health journeys and enjoy helping them reach the goals that I was also able to reach. I also always set new athletic goals for myself, one of them being to take part in a "Tough Mudder" event.

Why do you want to tell your story?

It's important for me to share my story because I want to show people that they can do anything. You just have to believe in yourself and never lose hope in yourself!
