Overview

Why did you want to lose weight?

The main catalyst for my weight loss was a bet about who could lose 10 pounds the fastest. I had already been feeling uncomfortable in my own skin for a while but never really realized that I weighed a bit too much.

"Why not?"

Since I had achieved some great results with YAZIO before, I downloaded the YAZIO app right when the bet started.

What did you want to accomplish on your journey?

Initially, I just wanted to win the bet. But then I quickly realized that, with every pound I lost, I started feeling better and better about myself. This led to me setting a higher goal for myself regardless of the bet. My new personal goal was to lose 65 pounds and finally get down to a weight with which I felt comfortable.

How did you reach your goals?

I strictly adhered to the app's recommendations. Since I knew that I only had a specific amount of calories available each day, I was automatically more conscious about selecting "good" foods.

Daniel’s Tips

Track everything.
Avoid liquid calories, such as soft drinks, as much as possible.
Stand firm and stick to your calorie goal.

Because I was really only interested in sticking to my calorie goal, I could also eat the occasional pizza or ice cream. Overall, it wasn't rocket science. I simply had to look at the nutrition facts for each product I bought at the supermarket. I also exercise and go to the gym 4 times a week.

How did YAZIO help you?

Since logging foods is lightning fast, I could always see exactly how many calories I had consumed and how many I still had left. The recommendations the app calculated for me always fit really well.

Did you have setbacks?

In the beginning, I was often demotivated because, on some days, I would see from the scale that I had gained weight. At some point, I realized that I shouldn't be focusing on individual days but on the entire week instead. Here I could actually see a trend.

What advice do you have for other users?

Trust in the app and try to stick to its recommendations. After you've weighed and logged everything before eating, put your phone away and enjoy your food. Try to integrate more exercise into your daily routine. For example, you can walk or take your bike more often instead of driving. For me, walking was actually one of the best weight-loss boosters.

What are your future goals?

From now on, I'm working to maintain my weight or increase it a little bit by building muscle. That means I no longer use my weight as a measure of success but, instead, focus on my physical well-being.

Why do you want to tell your story?

I often thought about giving up, especially when I first started dieting. Then I began to read more about the topic of dieting online and, in the end, was motivated by other people who had already accomplished their goals. Now, I hope to be the one to motivate someone else.
