Overview

Why did you want to lose weight?

I was aware of the fact that I had gained a lot of weight during both of my pregnancies. Just how much I had gained, however, first became clear to me after I saw pictures of myself.
I thought so often, "That can't be you!" I just looked awful. I was so ashamed.

"Give every day the chance to be a day full of motivation and success."

I also remember one event particularly well. I had left my key in the door on the second floor and thought to myself that I could quickly run upstairs and get it. After I jumped up the first few stairs, I realized just how heavy my body was and how much I was struggling. That was frustrating and sad at the same time.
And then, that was it! I wanted a change, and not tomorrow or next month. I wanted it now!

What did you want to accomplish on your journey?

First and foremost, I wanted to lose weight naturally and finally feel comfortable and attractive in my own body again. I also wanted to be more active again, to exercise more and, beyond that, to motivate others around me!

How did you reach your goals?

I've tried what feels like 30 different diets in my lifetime. I always ended up losing 10 to 15 pounds, but because of my starting weight, that was clearly too few.
So I had to find something new. I researched various types of diets online and finally stumbled across YAZIO. I downloaded the app and just gave it a try. And what can I say? It was the best decision!

Shari’s Tips

The most important thing is that you never give up.
Let other people's success stories motivate you.
Don't restrict foods.
Be patient, even when you hit a plateau. Your body is working at full speed.

With YAZIO, I had an exact overview of my eating habits and my calories. I never cut out foods, but I learned to be more conscious of what I was eating.
I also made my week as active as possible with daily walks, hula hoop, swimming twice a week, jogging, riding my bike, home workouts and exercise classes. To document my journey and accomplishments, I created my own motivational Instagram account.

How did YAZIO help you?

I don't think I would be where I am now if I hadn't tried YAZIO. With YAZIO, I didn't just discover tons of delicious recipes, but I also learned how to get my eating habits under control again. I think it's fascinating to see how many calories are hiding in each food.

Did you have setbacks?

I wouldn't really call it a setback, but I did hit a plateau for 3 months. Although, that wasn't so bad because I had already come so far. Most important for me was that I didn't gain back a bunch of weight and, in the end, I didn't.
I have to admit that I did eat a bit more during this time, but after a motivation boost, things continued to progress again.

What advice do you have for other users?

The most important advice I'd like to give is to never lose sight of your goal. I got back so much quality of life and so will you.
These are my tips for you:
You'll have bad days like everyone else. Don't let them bring you down! All that matters is you keep going.
Don't restrict certain foods. That usually ends up backfiring.
Look for sources of motivation. I created a weight-loss calendar, for example, where I would check off each time I lost 1 pound. At some point, it was like a game and I just wanted to reach my goal.
Don't forget that this is the only body you have and that's how you should treat it.
Take pictures of yourself frequently. This will help you see your progress even when the number on the scale doesn't move.

What are your future goals?

My goal is to maintain my current weight. Due to my pregnancies and weight-loss, my skin suffered a lot. That's why I moved forward with a big dream of mine: getting a tummy tuck. It's another thing that gave me a lot of my quality of life back. Soon, I'll have another surgery and then I'd like to start strength training.

Why do you want to tell your story?

I want to give others the same motivation I was given. I've learned that nothing is impossible and, if you want to lose weight, you will. Look at me. Look at the other users and their success stories.
The best feeling is when you can look at old pictures and say, "I don't look like that anymore!" I wish everyone out there tons of motivation and strength. Believe in yourselves!
